After spending the night in Venice, we entered Slovenia by Stupizza. We dedicate the day to visit the area of Triglav N.P., ascending along the road that passes along the Soca River to the Vrsic Pass and down to Bled.
We dedicated the second day to visit the Lake Bohinj area, from where it is worth take the cable car to the ski resort of Vogel to see the spectacular views over the lake and visit the Savica waterfall.
Just 4 kilometers from Bled is the Vintgar Gorge, one of the places of slovenia we liked the most. We dedicated the afternoon to go around the lake of Bled and to go up to its castle.
We leave the nature of the previous days and dedicate the day to visit the medieval cities of Skofja Loka and Kranj located between Bled and Ljubliana. Of the first stand out its historical center and the episcopal castle, while in Kranj the town hall and its churches stand out.
We leave Bled and head north to discover the Logarska Dolina N.P., located next to the Austrian border. We are surprised by the beauty of its glacial valley and the waterfalls found in it, highlighting Slap Palenk and Slap Rinka.
Ptuj is the oldest Slovenian city and has the reputation of a museum city. The monuments of this city are witnesses of its ancient past with vestiges of the Roman period and the periods that preceded it.
We crossed Slovenia from east to west, stopping to visit the capital of the country. We started with the castle, then descending to the historic center and walking along its famous bridges over the Ljubljana river.
We visit the Karst region, where the Postoina cave, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, stands out. Another interesting visit is the castle of Predjama, built inside the entrance of a cave.
As we did not have too many expectations, we were greatly surprised by the Skocjan caves. On this day we also visited the town of Piran, located on the few kilometers of coast that Slovenia has.
We leave Slovenia towards Milan airport from which our plane departs. We take the opportunity to make a stop next to the Lago di Garda, in the town of Sirmione.
